The 2024 Bobby Lane Cup at Guy Harvey Camp Mack on Lake Kissimmee was an incredible event that brought together anglers, families, and conservation champions to celebrate fishing and community. While this bass tournament raised an amazing $70,000 in scholarships for young anglers (huge credit to Bobby Lane and his team!), it also became a platform for sharing environmental efforts that go beyond freshwater fishing.
Captain Alex Gorichky and I were there representing Project SeaSafe and the OneWater Brand family, where we brought attention to coastal restoration initiatives like the Indian River Lagoon Clam Restoration and New Swell Mangrove Restoration. Even in the freshwater environment, our mission stayed the same: to encourage stewardship and promote clean, healthy waters.
We also teamed up with Star brite to provide anglers with Mesh Trash Bags—a simple but powerful tool to help keep the lake and venue clean. Tournament participants who used their bags to collect trash and responsibly dumped it at weigh-in had the chance to win big prizes from YakGear, T-H Marine, Star brite, PartsVu, and more.
This partnership was about more than cleanup; it was about creating a culture of care on and off the water. Whether saltwater or freshwater, everybody wins when we leave our playgrounds cleaner than we found them.
Huge thanks to Bobby Lane for creating such a meaningful event and for bringing the community together to celebrate fishing, youth, and conservation. It was an honor to be part of the day, spreading the word about environmental efforts while supporting such a worthy cause.
Let’s keep the momentum going—whether it’s restoring coastlines or cleaning up lakes, Team Do Gooder is here to help make a difference.
